Furano Now!

Thursday 11th November 2010, 9:23am
Weather conditions: Light snow flurries
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
In the early hours of the morning there has been a light snow fall throughout Furano. The valley is a nice canvas of white which will disappear as the morning rolls on. There has been reasonable accumulation on the upper slopes which should stay there. Freezing level is currently 550m, moving down to 300m tonight. The day is looking like a corker with blue skies and beautiful sunshine.   Read more ...

Zao Now!

Thursday 11th November 2010, 10:07am
Weather conditions: Fine, some cloud
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
For the 4th time this season, the mountain had a sprinkling of snow yesterday. Temperatures in the village were down to around +2 degrees morning time with some dense fog making visibility poor - felt like winter! There was even a sprinkling down to village level in the afternoon, just a dusting.... nothing that will stick.

Things a clearer this morning and slightly warmer - in fact it looks like the weekend should see some warm and clear conditions in Zao before things cool down again early in the week when we may see some more snow fall.

The resort is now busy putting the final touches to preparations for the coming season, everyone just hoping that the snow arrives soon and it's a bumper season for the village.   Read more ...

Naeba Now!

Thursday 11th November 2010, 11:19am
Weather conditions: Cloud, sun
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
A few more sprinkles on the mountain tops over the last week but not really anything more than that.

Last night there seems to have been some snowfall up at Kagura on the main course area down to the top of the gondola station, but that seems to be quickly retreating back up the mountain this morning. The village area was treated to some heavy rain last night while that was all happening.

It's another cloudy morning and fairly chilly even in the village, right now about 5 degrees.

It will likely become a bit warmer over the weekend with a new cold front moving in on Monday which will hopefully bring us some more snow. That opening date of 20th is quickly approaching, so all eyes on the forecasts.

Check the Naeba and Kagura resort info pages on the site for the latest forecast data.   Read more ...

Niseko Now!

Thursday 11th November 2010, 12:10pm
Weather conditions: Partly cloudy
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
More snow last night after a couple of days of rain and mild temperatures. Only a little wet snow settled at village level, which is melting pretty quickly, but up higher on the mountain there appears to have been a reasonable amount. We're still waiting for that first big dump that will set the base for the season. Another low pressure system is approaching from the west currently which will direct milder southerlies over us over the next few days and more rain. It's expected to pass to the east of us over Sunday night and as the winds turn around northerly again we'll see snow falling to near sea level from Monday morning. With the mountain scheduled to open the following weekend hopefully there will be enough snow to at least get a couple of the top lifts running.    Read more ...
