Weather conditions: sun and cloud
New snowfall: --

The snow on piste yesterday was pretty nice with the arriving snow in the afternoon and even though the off piste was a bit choppy it wasn't so bad either, especially in Blueberry Fields and over in Hanozono. The snow cleared up over night with the high that's come in.

The edge of a high system has moved over our heads so expect temperatures to be a little warmer today. -3/0 is expected with 40% humidity. Winds are coming in from the west.

Check out Gyu bar down from the stop lights if you're here...the fridge door is the entrance and if you don't want to have a drink it is still a pretty interesting photo op.

Weather conditions: Cloud, sun
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Yesterday the sun appeared for a while, though it remained a chilly day all the way through with another cold night. No new snowfall to report this morning unfortunately - indeed, there aren't that many clouds around and a fair bit of blue sky and the sun is shining through again early on.

It might rise to around +9 degrees later on today, with the temperature at the moment at 3.

Chance of rain and snow tomorrow, and the longer forecast currently looks like we can expect more snow towards the weekend.   Read more ...

Hakuba Now!

Tuesday 11th December 2007, 9:21am
Weather conditions: Cloudy
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Today in Hakuba is cloudy above the 1300m. No new snow to report overnight, but cold temperatures have kept the snow that we have received light and dry. Packed powder and groomed runs with the occasional open powder section on the sides of the runs. Looks like a low pressure system is moving in bringing with it more snow tomorrow and later in the week.

Backcountry Travel Advisory:

There's enough snow now to produce large scale avalanches big enough to bury a person. Travel with caution if going back-country/off-piste. Also watch for partially buried rocks/stumps etc. under fresh powder. potential human triggered slides in wind deposited convex rolls and gullies. Be especially cautious with possible warming and rain mid week as well as solar radiation on southern aspects.

Weather conditions: Cloud, light snow at times
New snowfall: --

After a clear start to the day, some light snow was falling this afternoon in parts of Shiga Kogen.... nothing that will be dumping lots of new cm again but it is snow and we like that! It was a less cold than it has been today, and while the snow has stopped for now we might get another sprinkling overnight. Looks like we can expect snow Thursday into Friday so hopefully if we get that more of the resort areas might be able to open for the weekend.   Read more ...
