So there's only one ski resort open in the Yuzawa region now..... Kagura, of course. We're into weekday mode again now (for lifts moving, see below) but you can still ride top to bottom - right down from the top of the No5 pair lift at Kagura to the Mitsumata base car park.
It has been a cloudy morning. No wind and fairly chilly. The mountains are covered in cloud and visibility up at Kagura looks poor.
There's a chance of some rain (snow higher up perhaps?) later on but from tomorrow we should see mainly clear and sunny conditions right through into the weekend. It looks set to get really warm too and get warmer every day.
This morning I bring some news of how the resort plans to re-open for the end of the season. The plan as it stands is to open for Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend and then from the weekend after until the end of Golden Week. Details below.
It will be great to be able to get back out there - there's still a lot of snow left and with lots of sunny days likely it should be a good end to the season.
One important point to make - there was no structural damage at all to the facilities in Zao due to the earthquake. Closing for this period has been due to power supplies and coping with the general situation rather than damage.
Hope you will be able to enjoy this last period of the season!
Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th April (8:30am - 5pm):
The Chuo, Paradise, Ohira and Takatori courses will be opened. These courses will be serviced by the Chuo Ropeway, Sky Cable Gondola, Chuo No1 Pair, Chuo No2 Pair and Paradise Pair lifts.
Saturday 23rd April until Golden Week (8:30am - 5pm):
It's a rather grey and cloudy day in Hakuba. Fairly mild with a high of around 7 degrees at the moment in the village and we may see a bit of rain, hopefully snow higher up, a bit later on today. It is going to get colder as the afternoon moves on and into this evening and overnight temperatures will once again dip below zero.
It has become more cloudy/foggy as the day has moved on and visibility on the upper slopes at the moment is very limited. Can't see much out there at all this afternoon.
From tomorrow it should be clear, bright and sunny weather with blue skies and warm temperatures right through into the weekend, so some fine spring ski conditions coming up.
The bottom slopes of Happo are now all closed and you need to get the Gondola back down to the base. Latest details of resort openings below...

Shiga Kogen Now!
Monday 11th April 2011, 14:22pm
[Please note that from now until the end of the season we will keep this Now report page updated at least a few times a week]
After a very foggy start to the day it has been a generally cloudy day here in Shiga Kogen and seems to be getting colder as the day moves on. We might even get to see some snow still later on.
After that though the clouds should clear up as we move into tomorrow which promises to be bright and sunny. It might stay cold tomorrow but as the we approach the weekend it will be getting warmer and warmer each day - around Friday we might see temperatures rise to around 10 degrees.

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Monday 11th April 2011, 14:32pm
Most of the mountain is shrouded in cloud today with only the lower slopes visible... it's a very grey and murky looking day! A chance of a sprinkling of snow up top and rain lower down this evening, though things are holding off as of right now. These conditions are all set to clear up fairly quickly though as tomorrow, and indeed the days after up until at least the weekend, are going to be fine and clear. Thursday and Friday in particular look likely to get really quite warm - t-shirt riding weather perhaps!
We intend to keep this Nozawa Now reporting section updated regularly right up until the end of the season in Nozawa.
