Good morning from the Naeba area. We have had a lot of rain over the last few days which basically washed away the snow that was remaining up on the top runs of Kagura and while it is still raining at town level today those top Kagura runs are looking white again. Not as much snow as there was a week or so ago - but snow has fallen down to around the top Kagura Gondola station. We might see clearer conditions tomorrow.
Look for the middle of next week though for perhaps a nice fall of snow on the mountains. We are less than 2 weeks away from the planned opening of Kagura, so it will be fun to see what the next week or so brings... Read more ...

It is a windy day today at 2m/s with temperatures between 2 degrees early on this morning and 8 degrees maximum for the afternoon. The rain has stopped for now and the sun is out however, the forecast from the evening onwards until the 15th November is rain with cloud cover which will dominate the skies.
Also, snow is expected to fall on Wednesday in between those rainy, cloudy days. We are looking forward to the chance of some fresh flakes over Hakuba this coming week, it will be fun to see how far down the mountain the snow line comes.
Below are the official opening dates of some ski resorts in Hakuba, all subject to snowfall of course. Hakuba 47 and Goryu have notices basically saying that they will open as soon as there's enough snow and they have done all their preparations. Let's hope they can all hit their planned opening dates.
Happo-one December 8th 2012
Hakuba 47 December 1st 2012
Hakuba Goryu December 1st 2012
Tsugaike Kogen Tsugaike will open as soon as there is enough snow, after 23rd November
