Good morning.

A bit of a grey early morning but the sun is out now and it is going to be a fine spring day with temperatures later on rising to around 25 degrees here in town. Borderline hot, that! It's hazy rather than lovely blue skies. More of the same expected tomorrow.

Tomorrow until Thursday are national holidays in Japan and so expect Kagura to be pretty busy.

More Kagura news this morning:

Today is the last day of the season for the Tashiro <> Kagura connecting course, and the Alyeska course at Tashiro is also now closed.

A warm southerly wind is expected tomorrow and the resort are warning that the Tashiro area may well have to completely close earlier than next Sunday, which is the planned closing date.

This is just local talk and rumour, but word seems to be that people think Kagura will be closing due to the lack of snow a few weeks earlier than planned (* planned is the 29th). Remember that is just rumour/guesswork from locals, but unfortunately resorts themselves often leave it late to announce these kinds of things. I'm just thinking about people who might be planning on skiing near the end of the month...

I'm not keeping the official snow depth numbers in the report anymore because honestly they are close to meaningless now (100cm today at Tashiro?!) and the resort does not seem to be publishing it up front as a headline either

Resorts that remain open in Yuzawa on Monday 2nd May 2016:

Kagura
The Tashiro Ropeway / Tashiro area plans to be part open until 8th May.
The Kagura area (via Mitsumata Ropeway) plans to be part open until 29th May.
Snow is fast disappearing and there is a good chance that those dates will not be possible.

The following courses at Kagura remain at least part open:

- Kagura main course
- Giant course
- Mogul Bahn (until early May)
- Tashiro Ladies (part)
- Tashiro-ko Course
- Family Course at Mitsumata (open just to connect to the Gondola - snow mats, no natural snow)
- Kagura Park

All other resorts in Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma are now closed for the season.
