The snow yesterday abated in the afternoon and it was mostly fine overnight with only a dusting of new snow. Today is mostly cloudy with a few light snow showers moving through. Finally though the wind has died down and all lifts and gates are open. All the bowls will be loaded up with plenty of fresh and drifted snow. Avalanche danger has decreased but as always be careful around cornices and convex slopes and don't hang out in the bottom of gullies. Although vis at the peak won't be all that great the runs down should still be very rewarding with up around thigh deep turns. It has warmed up quite a bit from yesterday and the snow right down low will be getting a little heavier. Will still be excellent quality up higher.

Avalanche Information:

All gates are scheduled to open depending on the weather condition and lift operation, peak gates at 9:30am. Please follow the ski patrol’s instructions. Annupuri peak 6am: -12.4℃, average wind NW11.5m/s. Annupuri 800m: -9.8℃, WSW2.6m/s with light overnight snowfall. The wind above 1000m elevation stagnated between 12-15m/s W to NW during the night and the slopes in high altitude are strongly affected by yesterday morning’s strong wind. The N to E facing slope surfaces are in a variable condition; rugged and hard-crust, scuffed by the wind with patches of packed snowdrifts. Snowdrifts have heavily developed in south facing steep slopes, covering the cornices and heavily developing in knoll (convex) terrains. Beware of those overloaded snowdrifts as they are likely to collapse and trigger an avalanche. Hazards are also to be highly considered in lower elevation (around 900m and lower) as the new snow accumulation reached up to 70cm on top of the crust layer in the past 48 hours. Always be conscious of avalanche risks when riding in slopes steeper than 30°. Be prudent and have a safe day.
