Besides a few snow showers in the afternoon yesterday the weather mostly fined up and it was a clear night allowing temps to drop down to -11 in Kutchan. Today has dawned mostly sunny again and with little wind it's going to be another great day to be on the mountain. Some good quality snow should still be found off the peak but lower slopes will have been affected by the sun yesterday and besides in shaded areas expect the snow to be crusty.
The outlook is looking much more Springlike with some rain likely on Thursday and temperatures getting above freezing most days at the base. Some snow is currently forecast though Friday night into Saturday.

For many of us living here I must admit that we are ready for Spring. The first snowfall to village level was back on 31 Oct, so it's been a pretty long winter. Certainly the farmers will be happy to see the snow start to melt off their fields. They have been spreading large amounts of black ash across their fields in recent weeks to try and assist the melting process. I'm sure the recent snowfalls didn't make them all that happy!

Although we'll be very lucky now to see a return to deep powder conditions again this season Spring skiing is also a lot of fun and a great time to head out and explore some of the backcountry. There's a deep snowpack up high which should last well into May so there's plenty of turns to be had yet.
