Light snow continued through much of yesterday but cleared overnight so we've only had around 5cm since last report. This morning is overcast with light winds but this is definitely just the calm before the storm. Snow and high winds will move across the region later today and will continue for the next couple of days.
Today they will be opening gate 2 accessed from the top of Jumbo #4 in Annupuri. This will give access to the upper parts of Annupuri Bowl and undoubtedly some very nice untracked snow.
Make sure you get out there today because with the high winds expected over the next couple of days lift operation is likely to be restricted.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 170cm
Bottom - 105cm

Niseko Village:
Top - 190cm
Bottom - 120cm

Top - 190cm
Bottom - 130cm

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.15

Moiwa base 6am: -5℃, slight (5cm) overnight snowfall.
Coastal wind: 5m/s WSW with 1.9m waves. 15m/s WSW is predicted to blow at the peak at noon and will pick up in the afternoon.
There are no notable snowdrifts development and according to the observations and snowfall transitions, the avalanche risk remains low in the morning.
Gate 2 (Annupuri peak) will open today at 10:30. However, hiking to the peak will be restricted until gate 3 (Hirafu peak) opens.
Do not traverse all the way to the Osawa cornices.
Unconsidered traversing or cutting knolls or just below cornices could lead to a serious accident.
The snow out of bounds is good but still shallow. Beware of hitting trees.
Respect the Rules and always use gates to step out of bounds. Why risk your pass by ducking ropes, when you can step out freely using the gates?
Seek for advice from the ski patrol.
Serious self-discipline is required in the backcountry. If you step out of bounds, you do it 100% at your own risk.
Have nice day
