As forecast a warm front passed through the region late yesterday morning and for a brief period it was very windy and snowy. It all calmed down again from around 2pm and the temperature continued to climb until 4pm reaching almost 2 degrees at village level. Things settled overnight though and the temperature dropped back to -5 degrees. This morning there's been a few light snow showers which may continue on and off through the remainder of the day. More snow expected tomorrow and through much of the rest of the outlook.

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.12

Moiwa base 6am: -2.5℃, 5cm overnight snowfall.
Coastal wind: 10m/s N with rising wave height 2.8m.
Last night’s irregularly formed snow particles are typical shapes of passing Low snowfall and would probably turn into a weak layer underneath future snowfalls.
Deeper snow accumulation is stable. There are no notable developments of snowdrifts (except some in upper eastern slopes) and the avalanche risk is relatively low.
A 15m/s northerly wind is predicted to blow at the peak. Gates 1 (L-ji), 4 (Fujiwara) and 6 (Moiwa) are scheduled to open if the conditions allow.
Be aware and be prepared of the dangers in winter-mountains.
Traversing below cornices, resting at the valley bottom or rushing into the same slope at once are typical signs of ignorance.
Learn the basics before you step out of bounds and pay attention to the ski patrol’s instructions
