Yesterday the winds remained constant from the West/North West. Towards the afternoon the constant flurrying turned into snow. It topped up the previous days falls and overnight we saw 15cms of new snow fall with areas up to 20cm.
As the temperature has dropped since yesterday the snow has remained light and dry.
This morning on the mountain there were lots of smiles. The odd break of sunshine transformed the mountain into a pure shredding haven.
This afternoon the snow will continue to fall and become heavier into the night. Winds will remain consistent from the West over the weekend with some more light snowfalls tomorrow. A sunny change is expected at the start of next week.
Park riders will welcome the sunshine.

Avalanche Information:

Annupuri base 6am: -4℃ and 25cm of overnight snowfall. Evaluating from the coastal data, peak anemometer data and snowfall observation, snowdrifts formed by northerly wind & snow, are drastically developing in south facing slopes off the peak around 1000 – 1200m as well as in East facing slopes around 1000m. Avalanche hazard is very high in those slope conditions, including Moiwa’s second bowl, Mikaeri no sawa, around cornices of Annupuri Osawa (bowl), sidewalls and main-chute of Kozan no sawa (Backbowl), around cornices of Fujiwara no sawa and Higashi-One’s Hanazono face. The newly developing cornices and knolls are extremely unstable and could collapse with the slightest stimulation. Better stay away from gully line where avalanches run through. All gates are scheduled to open a little late, peak gates probably after 11am. Please respect the ski patrol’s instructions. Do not duck ropes. The snow in the trees is in good condition, however cautious approach is generally required today
