Well the forecast heavy snows last night just didn't really happen. It looked promising for awhile with strong winds and plenty of falling and blowing snow but it all passed through rather quickly. The main bands of precipitation appeared to skirt around our region which is actually not that unusual with winds more out of the south as they were last night. The avie report is saying up around 10cm fell at the base of Moiwa but here in Hirafu I'd put it at more like only 5cm. It is currently snowing again though and we can expect a fair bit more today and tonight and through the weekend. There's the possibility of some further good falls Monday night into Tuesday.
Fairly mild air is still expected from around the 24-27th and there is the possibility of some rain but from later on the 27th it's looking good for another big snow system to see out the end of the month.
Conditions on the mountain today are certainly not at their best with so little snow falling over the last few days but up higher there is likely to be some reasonable turns, especially in lee slopes where some drifting will have occurred.

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.66

Moiwa base 6am: -6℃, 10cm of overnight snowfall without wind influence. Coastal wind: SE2m/s at Benkei cape, mild breeze, calm sea and 1007hPa at Kamui cape. Annupuri peak 6am: S4.9m/s, -9℃, poor visibility. Wind is predicted to swing to WNW15m/s around noon. The wind at the peak has topped 25m/s southerly around 22:00 last night. This strong gust due to the passing Low has made some snowdrifts develop in some spots. The current wind is mild as another small Low is interacting with the passed stronger Low pressure system. Westerly wind is will probably pick up from noon. Peak gates are scheduled to open at 9:30. Follow the ski patrol instructions. Some crust layer has formed in low altitude sun exposed slopes such as Mikaeri no sawa. This layer will potentially form the next sliding layer. Beware of the future snowfall transitions.
The current mountain condition is not very good.
The slopes that were good one day are not necessarily good everyday.
No matter the snow accumulation amount, if the conditions are right, avalanches will happen.
Many of the accidents occur in leeward slopes where storms leave a great amount of snowdrifts.
The total snow accumulation in the gully in the west faces, facing the Goshiki Onsen, has now reached 4m and newly formed cracks have been observed.
Pay attention to the surrounding environment/people and ride carefully.
