Good times in Niseko! Since last report we've had pretty much continuous snowfalls adding another 30-40cm of good quality powder. Supposedly the nighta last night was great and with another 20-30cm through the night today is going to be up in the epic scale. Certainly couldn't ask for much better conditions in mid March, although if the sun came out in the afternoon that would really top it off nicely and there's a possibility this may happen. The snow is expected to ease later with the cloud breaking up. Tomorrow is looking like it will be mostly fine and temperatures by the afternoon will get a little above freezing so today will certainly have the best conditions of this week. Currently the very top lifts are still on wind hold but they may operate later today as the winds abate.
On Saturday another low will approach from the west and mild air will once again be dragged up over the region and we can expect rain later in the day continuing into Sunday morning. From later on Sunday though as the low passes through cooler air will turn the precipitation back to snow and it's starting to look very good for cold and snowy weather to then continue through much of next week.

(Information as of this morning)

Moiwa base 6am: -7℃, 30cm of overnight snowfall.
Coastal data: WNW17m/s at Benkei cape, W13m/s, 2.6m waves and 1009hPa Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak 6am: W12.5m/s, recorded SW35.6m/s at 10pm.
Predicted wind at noon: W18m/s.
The atmospheric pressure gradient is starting to loosen and the storm should start calming down.
Maximum snowdrift reached up to 120cm around the peak.
Cornices and snowdrifts have drastically developed in the past 36hours, up to 150cm in 1000m leeward areas of Osawa, Kozan no sawa, Higashi-One.
Avalanche risk is HIGH, predicted sliding layer is Mar 16th, 80cm thick.
Need to leave a little time for the snow to settle.
Gate 2 & 3 are scheduled to open at 11:00 depending on peak lift operations.
Gate 6 (Moiwa) will open at 10:30.
The snowdrifts just below ridgeline are very unstable, if cracks form when you enter the slope, it is highly probable to slide.
Be cautious, avoid traversing knolls and under cornices.
Ride one by one and ride out to a safe zone when you stop.
Stay away from the avalanche path, which are the bottom of gullies/valleys.
The snow is good.
Have you switched your beacon on?
Acknowledge today’s risk before stepping outside the gates.
If you see a chair-skier, please give him a hand.
