In the afternoon yesterday the snow returned and it was quite heavy for a number of hours and added another 10-15cm. Overnight it mostly cleared up and there was only a dusting. It got pretty cold, down to arund -11 in the village and it's still around -8. There's a little light snow falling around the mountain but there's also a bit of sun coming though and virtually no wind. Overall a beautiful morning to be up on the slopes.
The remainder of today will remain mostly fine but a weak low pressure system will move over the region tonight bringing snow through the night and all tomorrow with some good falls expected.
Today will see the Hanazono area open all lifts and have skiing out to the base. So that's all areas of the resort now open top to bottom.

At this stage it's looking like the start of next week will get a little mild and there's likely to be a little rain at the base of the mountain on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will remain mild but by Christmas Eve things should really start to cool down again and plenty of snow should be falling into Christmas Day. Best Christmas present anyone could ask for!

Avalanche Report

Moiwa base 6am, -12 ℃ and light snowfall.
The wind above 1100m has been stagnating around 10m / s W to SW all night.
There are no drastic developments of snowdrifts.
Moderate wind and snowfall has continued since the heavy snowfall of Tuesday-Wednesday morning. There are no notable signs of instability in the snow pack and avalanche risk is low except in very steep and loaded slopes.
The snow base still remains lower than 100cm in many places. We will need a lot more snow before opening the gates.
The snow quality is good and the course conditions are getting better everyday.
Ride safe and have a nice day.
