Good morning from Niseko.

And what a fine morning it is.

Not the kind that has 50cm of deep fresh snowfall, but the other kind when we are treated to some beautiful blue skies and the sun shining down on us.

Yesterday we enjoyed the sun as well of course - though today there's less of the cloud that was hanging around yesterday. The avalanche report is saying that light snow was starting to fall above 800m altitude, but that was earlier on when I was still tucked up and asleep. It's all (well mostly) blue sky now.

Of course, now that we have been able to enjoy some fine blue sky weather the last few days I think that most of us will be wanting to see a swift return to the snow falling to refresh things - the tracks themselves are now tracked out somewhat.

And on that front I have good news. Either later today or early in the morning snow will be falling and once it starts it should keep on coming through next week. Snowfall is forecast through the weekend.

So we enjoy the sun while it lasts today whilst looking forward to hopefully lots of fresh fluffy stuff on the ground tomorrow morning. Sounds like a plan!

Another question that has been sent in for me to attempt to answer!

'How about that Country Road lift at Niseko Village...does it ever move?'

I have just called the Niseko Village resort now to try and get an official word on that... and the official word is that normally the Country Road lift does not move but it's ready and waiting for when things get extremely busy. I must admit that I cannot myself remember ever seeing that lift moving, but then again I try to avoid the busiest of the busiest times. So there you go!
