Sorry about the late report but I was out the door quite early this morning to get some turns in. Again we'd had another 15cm or so overnight and is was snowing when I left for the mountain. After a quick warm up run in Blueberry's headed straight up to the peak and although I missed the queue at the single chair there was already 100 or so people walking their way up. Got to the summit hut and most of the people were heading off towards the Annupuri bowls or the North bowl so I decided to head down Jackson's. The snow was up to just over knee deep and was pretty fast. Got out to the cornice and it really is getting quite large. It didn't look too stable so headed down skiers left and dropped in and the whole slope was untouched. Seems I was the first down this area! Anyway all up an awesome morning. The snow is certainly better quality up high and it's not super deep but overall very good conditions and I can only be critical because being here all season I do get very spoiled.
Currently it's still snowing lightly and this should continue on and off through the rest of the day. Currently it's looking like a bit of a storm may cross the region on Thursday with strong winds and milder temperatures. A reasonable amount of snow is expected with it.

Avalanche Information:

Niseko Avalanche Info No.61

Moiwa base 6am: -8℃, 15cm of overnight snowfall.
Coastal data: WNW7m/s at Benkei cape, WSW7m/s, 1m waves and 1022hPa at Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak data: NW8.9m/s, -13℃. The wind is forecasted to remain within 15m/s.
Yesterday afternoon’s snow and wind have made some snowdrifts to develop and possibilities of 30cm surface slab avalanche are considerable in 1000m 40°slopes in Higashi-One or the Backbowl. Although stabilization is progressing, the risk will remain relatively high in the morning.
Don’t drop into knolls or steep slopes all at once.
Cornices are soft and easily collapsible, better stay away.
The snow in the trees below 800m is good, light and fast.
Be careful not to hit trees or falling in creeks or ponds at the bottom of the gullies.
The “minimum” safety and freedom of out of bounds riding in Niseko is based on the respect of the Niseko Rules.
Stay away from off limits areas designated by the Rules.
Any ropes should not be ducked.
Peak gates will open at 9:30, listen to the ski patrol’s advice before stepping out the gate.
