It had to end sometime! After the great conditions over the past couple of days, you would have been well within your rights to expect more of the same today. Unfortunately the weather today is rather wet and foggy, and with mercury on the rise it looks as if spring might finally be on it's way and signalling an end to the 2011-12 season. In terms of snowfall and winter-like weather anyway.

The last day of operations at Hanazono (planned for today) is actually a non-event at the moment with all of the lifts closed over on that side of the mountain due to the weather conditions, and at the time of writing only the Ace Quad appears to be the moving at Hirafu.

Over at the Annupuri area the Gondola, Jumbo No1 and Jumbo No3 lifts are currently operating.

The Niseko Village resort area is closed from today, but they do plan to open up again from Sunday 29th April until Sunday 6th May.

Today would appear to be a spring cleaning day for many.... or maybe a spot of whitewater rafting!

Below is the latest information from the resort areas in Niseko regarding planned lift operation plans - subject to change:

Grand Hirafu & Hanazono:
Planned closing dates for lifts - though lifts currently affected Monday due to weather conditions:

C Ace Quad Lift No2 - until 6th May
I King Hooded Triple Lift #3 - until 6th May
J King Lift #4 - until 6th May
K Swinging Monkey Pair Lift - until 9th April
N Hanazono Hooded Quad Lift #1 - until 9th April
O Hanazono Quad Lift #2 - until 9th April
P Hanazono Hooded Quad Lift #3 - until 9th April

The Hirafu Gondola is now closed weekdays but plans to be operating again on 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th, 29th, 30th April and also from 3rd May until 6th May.

Niseko Village:
Niseko Village is closed at the moment but plans to re-open for the Golden Week holiday period from Sunday 29th April until Sunday 6th May.

Annupuri plans to be open until 6th May.

Official snow depths:

Grand Hirafu / Hanazono:
Top - 420cm
Bottom - 180cm

Top - 450cm
Bottom - 180cm
