It is the final day of the season here and feels like summer already! Today's maximum is forecast as 15 degrees but I think it will get higher as the sun is out and the hazy sky is trapping the heat. The tops of the mountains are rapidly turning from white to black at the moment and the lower slopes are completely bare of snow now. It is a great time for outdoor activities in this weather as there is no humidity but it is warm enough to walk in a t-shirt. The rivers are all full of melt-water so the rafting must be fast and exciting and there are plenty of people going out on the rivers this week-end, it is one of the busiest times of the year for all the rafting companies in town.

Overall it is a great time of year here in Hokkaido; the winter sports are finished but everyone is looking forward to a summer of mountain biking, surfing, snorkelling, hiking, etc.

It has been another great winter season here with less snow than last year but still plenty to keep everyone happy. The village has seen an increase in places to stay and a rise in the number of guests but still managed to keep its small village atmosphere.

There will be another busy summer of construction in the village with even more accommodation choices available for the coming season - let's hope next season is another great one.
