It's absolutely dumping snow right now! There's really not much more you can say to spice it up. It's simply dumping snow. Over the past 12 hours, it has snowed around 25-30 cm. We're looking at a good day today almost anywhere you go in Niseko... but winds may prevent you from going to some areas - look for the top of the mountain at least to be closed today, and the strong winds are forecast to continue through the day.

If you do make it out, just make sure to be careful on cornices and the wind loaded slopes from previous. Use the buddy system and have avalanche gear if you are going into the backbowls. 2, 3, and 6 are likely to be closed all day.

Contrast to what the avalanche report says, it is important to place confidence in skills and knowledge. These are the tools that we use to make decisions. It is important to be humbled by nature, but have some fun skiing!

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu / Hanazono:
Top - 310cm
Bottom - 180cm

Niseko Village:
Top - 270cm
Bottom - 180cm

Top - 275cm
Bottom - 180cm

Niseko avalanche report reads:

Niseko base 6am: -7℃ and 30cm of fresh snow over the past 12 hours.
Coastal data: NW11m/s at Benkei cape, 2.1m waves and 1003hPa at Kamui cape.
Annupuri peak wind: NW18.6m/s.
A strong northwesterly wind with snowfall has been persisting in the areas above 800m.
Development of snowdrifts and cornices are heavy and the avalanche risk is significantly high in leeward slopes of areas E6, D5, C4, F5, G7 (coordinates on the Niseko Rule’s map). Potential risk of 80cm surface slab slide is present in hazardous slopes.
Gates 2, 3 and 6 will be kept closed. Other gates’ opening will be subject to the snow/weather conditions, please respect the ski patrol’s decisions.
There has been an avalanche in the Backbowl yesterday.
The chances of accidents will keep rising if the number of people, ignorant of the risks, going out of bounds grows.
Anyone can avoid accidents by choosing not to go to certain high-risk areas.
We would like to remind that it is not wise to place too much confidence in skills or knowledge. Stay humble and pay attention to the danger signs.
The mountain conditions are ever changing; there are no 100% safe days.
The snow below 800m altitude is in excellent condition.
Beware of hitting trees or falling into unburied creeks.
Do not stop in valley bottoms.
