Lots of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours. 40 cm of snow to be exact. There are fresh tracks to be had throughout the resort and there are many places to go that haven't been touched. The back bowls, side gates, mizu no sawa, etc etc all have good snow still left. With last night's refresher, it can only get better.

It's looking like more snow today and tomorrow then maybe tapering off to some mostly cloudy conditions with not as much snow. Temps are going to be a bit higher than they have been today and tomorrow but plummet once the high pressure comes in on Tues/Weds. If you're tired get a massage, genki drink, or a little liquid courage to help you get out. Conditions will be good today and tomorrow but they may get tracked out fast, weekend and all.

Yesterday was awesome throughout the resort. Up until the last run, I was finding fresh spots and soft snow all around. With the snow we got last night, it can only be better. So stop reading and go ski!

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Moiwa base 6am: -8C, 15cm of crushed crystal snow in the past 12 hours, a small amount of snow drift development at the base. Benkei Cape NW11m/s, Kamui Cape wave 2.1m, pressure 1019hpa. Annapuri Peak 1308 elevation, NW 19.5m/s, temp -15.5C
SnowTransition: The wind is expected to increase today around 1.00pm, both the ocean and the mountains will be battered by winds for the next 10 hours. Snow drift development will by rapid and unstable. At 800m elevation on the west side, snowdrifts are expected to develop to 100cm, at 1000m they are expected to be 120cm. On the east side development is expected to be even greater.
SnowPit Data: Due to storms a snowdrift layer has deposited on the 4th Feb layer of low pressure snowfall, which in turn had fallen over the hard layer from the 2nd Feb. Below the 22 Jan layer the snow has stabilsed.
Hazard Evaluation: The Feb 5th snowdrifts are starting to stablise, however the Feb 4th layer is relatively weak and easy to trigger a fracture. Coordinates F5(O-Sawa cornice slopes), E6 (Backbowl sidewalls), G7 (Higashi One slopes) the avalanche risk is HIGH this morning.
Caution: Most accidents occur during or closely after a storm. Today's conditions are completely different to yesterdays. Be aware of the risks outlined above and take actions to avoid them. The drifted snow today is heavy, slow and difficult to ski. Be careful of trees and ice balls in the snow. We recommend reading and being aware of the Niseko Rules, they are there for your safety.
Gates: Gates 2 & 3 are not expected to open. Please respect the patrols decision.
Have a safe day.
