I have just checked the weather forecast - Last nights dream of a forecasted 13 meter snowfall are completely fictional - it was definitely just a dream!

-3 degrees at 900 meters this morning. Naeba can be seen from Asagai, there's a gray sky with short spells of sunshine and it seems the abundant snowfall we've been having has stopped for the time-being.

We had about 2cm of snow since yesterdays report while conditions on the gelande have been excellent. Very soft landings!

Kagura and Mitsumata have had a lot of the wonderful white stuff. The valleys are full of drifted snow - don't venture there, you will surely get stuck! There are a lot of trees, stumps and rocks about still. Just for reference, the entrance of the restaurant - 'Wadagoya' (the one near the top of the Kagura ropeway -which has the lovely salmon and ikura on top of rice) has stairs! Something which I didn't know existed!

There are also a lot of wind created cornices which are VERY unstable. Specifically I am talking about the bowl that is skiers right to the top quad at Kagura (which can be seen from the bottom of the quad - a person was seen near the top of this yesterday, it then broke away at around 5 meters back from the edge with the whole immediate location sliding, It's a very nasty terrain trap down there at the moment. If something like this happens in an area like this, there is no ride-out, you will very likely get stuck in the trees which are not yet covered. This is the same for all out of boundary areas specifically bowls and valleys- the traps are there, you can not be too careful!

If you DO venture out of boundary, Be careful who you ride/ski with, where you go and as always don't take any risks, stick with your buddies, don't wander off on your own!

All in all, there is a lot of powder out there now, a great amount of fun to be had! The Mitsumata park seems to be taking shape, a couple of nicely shaped jumps near the top, nothing in the middle section as of yesterday but they DO have a couple of rails/objects (if that's your thing) near the bottom of the board X course this year which new to the shape of things in that area.
