It's a sunny, warm morning in Myoko. It stayed cold overnight, which is helping the base to stay fairly stable. The forecast for later in the day includes the possibility of rain, and there are a lot of high cirrus clouds beginning to move in from the west. Hopefully this has more to do with the expected big snow dump tomorrow than rain.

All major lifts are running, so I'll report when things are off, rather than listing up all the ones that are running.

There is a lot of cracking and creeping of the snow on the steeper slopes; the Maruyama run (about 38°) at Akakura Onsen has slid down to ground, with the short runs just to the north sliding and folding—the sun will probably make them release today. That hasn't stopped some people from sliding around the edges where there still is snow and right into the area below the potential slide. The steep Champion A course of Akakan Resort likewise is cracking, although the snowpack isn't sliding as noticeably. Be smart, people; the snowpack isn't consolidated enough to be reliable; if there are cracks, leave it alone for now. There are safer places to enjoy something outside of cruising the courses....
