Myoko made it onto the news again last night and this morning as we are continuing to get buried in huge amounts of snow. Not masses last night, 'just' about 20cm or so but it has been snowing hard since this morning and there has probably been another 30cm or so. It just keeps on coming! Poor visibility, heavy snow, more heavy snow and some more snow is what it's all about at the moment. And guess what's on the forecast? Yes... more snow!

While resorts remain open through this storm - and jolly good going there chaps - some lifts seem to be affected, some not moving (the No3 high speed lift at Suginohara getting my attention today) and some moving slower than usual. But generally I would say they are coping very well.

Tomorrow of course is the start of the weekend and as I said snow is forecast. Today would seem to be the peak of this storm perhaps, and we may - just may - actually see some clearing up for a short time tomorrow, but snow and sometimes heavy snow is not going to be far away from us right through next week. Tuesday and Wednesday on the forecast as it stands now looks almost scary with the heavy snow forecast.

Actually, I'm not scared at all as it's actually really exciting. But it goes without saying that care needs to be taken at the resorts and on the way to the resorts on the roads. Snow brings a lot of fun but there's potential danger as well which always needs to be remembered.

The snow depth numbers at the resorts have been increasing but as is so often the case simply don't paint the picture as vividly as we are seeing it act out here. Seki up to 530cm, but I would love to know just how much they have actually received in terms of a total snowfall. If anyone knows send me a mail via the main site email contact!
