You can feel it coming; the barometric pressure is falling, the wind is picking up.

There's a low pressure system off to the west that looks like it will move up toward Hokkaido—and that has been the pattern that has brought some heavy snow (and too often strong winds) to Myoko. Tomorrow could be a pretty big one, but with the rain/warm/melt of recent days combining with wind-blown snow, be especially careful if you venture up the hills or into the trees. It will be nice to get a reload of some good snow, though—just have to be sure to inoculate yourself against powder fever.

Funny, too, that even though there's been a lot of melting the past few days, we still have more than four meters of snow at Akakan...where they had to post signs along the No.1 hotel lift—the snow is so high some of us tall folks are likely to get scraped by the skis or poles of lift riders!
