Snow and snow and some wind and a bit more snow. And cold—the news says the coldest day in the entire Heisei era (the past 30 years).

The official snow poke says 51 cm of new snow, and it is still falling out there. It’s going to be a tough day for people who want to hike up, and not entirely safe, either: there was stuffing and whumpfing on an rain/ice layer down in the pack. We also have some people lost on the hill since last night after heading off from the ski area (more later). Please be smart, because the conditions are not easy to deal with.

But it is great to see some real Myoko days out there after that rain twice this month. The wind may remain strong for the next few days, so lift closings are possible.

Clearing snow is not fun, but the skiing makes it worth it all! Some super powder yesterday, and today is even better.
