The latest Myoko Now report can be found here

Snow is just starting to fall after a full day of sun and cloudless blue skies (not that common here in Myoko).

The barometer is way down from yesterday and it's a bit warmer, although that might change as the new weather front moves in. That sun helped the snow settle a lot, although (for the fresh snow fans) this also means some sun crust on open faces and south exposures.

Heard from several people that offpiste got a bit heavy lower down and on south faces, too.

Things may change after this report has been posted; seeing some fog across the valley already. Hey, it's mountain weather, right?

We have a good base of snow and the skiing should be great!

Another message from SnowJapan

Just a quick note to once again thank everyone who has entered our prize draw and sent us comments. As much as we would really like to be able to respond to everyone individually, there is just so many of them and so unfortunately that is just not possible. (We’d probably have to cancel our daily reporting to do that, so it might not be popular!)

But we do appreciate all the words of support, as well as the ideas and suggestions on how to improve SnowJapan.

You can still enter here, but by Wednesday 9th January we plan to have sent out emails to winners, so look out for an email from SnowJapan.

Just want to take this opportunity to make a few more comments this morning.

There are various things that we would really love to do in order to improve our website and service, including some of the things that have been mentioned in comments. We’re always looking at how we can improve the site and plan to continue to do so. Alas, the reality is that we are not in possession of the endless supply of money and time that would properly allow us to realise them all. (If anyone knows of any hidden large wads of cash and time-slowing-machines, please do let us know).

We do not claim that our website is perfect. Every so often when an angry (?) person sends us their rude complaints, we feel the urge to remind them that they are using a completely free service - and that we owe them nothing. We are of course now well used to the reality that we are never going to keep everyone happy with what we do (especially some folk who are aggressively marketing specific parts of Japan to you).

If you find what you feel is a mistake: let us know about it! We'll do the necessary checks - if it is indeed a mistake, we'll fix it.

What we do promise with complete confidence is that we operate this website with integrity and honesty as our bottom line - and we’re not going to budge on that.

Have a fun January!
