The snow is really starting to come down again; I didn't plan on making such a late report today, but road delays (from all the previous days of snow) and high winds along the ocean made everything basically stop. And it's good that we can see that yet another major snowfall is here. There's at least 30cm on the ground, and the rate is really heavy and steady.

The good news is the great base that this is building for the rest of the season, the bad news is things like train delays, and the roof that collapsed on a local hotel this afternoon due to a huge cornice that just couldn't be cleared in time. It's really important, too, if you stray off the course and into the trees to be really careful about sluffs and little valleys. It doesn't take much to get buried. For actual backcountry travel, it's going to be tough going up, and extreme caution should be made on any steep slope. There may be soem weak layers on south-facing slopes, too—there's a lot going on and it really pays to be very careful.
