All evidence to the contrary, it is, in fact, spring and when the sun is out as it was all day yesterday the snow evaporates quickly. Even so, the cold temperatures have helped to keep the pistes in fairly good condition - not powder by any means, but just packed down a bit and ice-free. Couldn't ask for better spring conditions, especially since the slopes are nearly empty now.

And, as previously reported, more snow is in the forecast for today and tonight. (This is not an April Fool's joke.) This looks like it for the season, however, as rain and soaring temperatures, not snow, are now predicted for Saturday, preceded by sunny skies on Friday. It's cloudy now and the temperature is hovering around the freezing mark. It looks like snow is on the way soon, but for now visibility is good.

One sign that spring has actually arrived is that, while Hiuchi is still blanketed in white, black streaks have appeared all over Myoko, soon to be followed by a larger gap in the shape of a rearing horse that local folks swear you can see on the side of the mountain at a certain point in spring every year.

We'll be replacing the daily reports with occasional updates until next season after tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
