We're all done in Hakuba for another season. It was pretty sketchy at the end, but the resorts that stay open managed to do so one way or another. After some fine days over the weekend, we finished off with heavy rain all day yesterday and quite chilly weather with thick cloud higher up today. The rain yesterday caused a small landslide on the road up to the trailhead for Shiroumadake, but no-one was injured.

If you want to see some snow, the Goryu gondola is still going for hikers. Happo's lifts stop until May 15 for maintenance. The best place to see some snow and/or ride the backcountry is Tateyama. Like Hakuba, they don't have as much snow as normal for this time of year, but you should still be able to ride there for some time yet.

Thanks for reading and we'll be back in late autumn as next season approaches. If you want some alternative fun on your board(s), don't forget that Hakuba has two water jumps where you can practice all manner of freestyle tricks in relative safety. It's a lot of fun.
