Hakuba currently sits under cloudy skies with the sun trying to break through. No rain as of yet but the skiing is still great spring conditions on the hills that are open. Slushy is the word of this last week of the ski season but coverage is actually pretty good and the places with terrain parks (Goryu, 47, Tsugaike) are all super fun to rip up. Get out there and milk it as we have 4 days left!

( See Backcountry Advisory Below )

Avalanche Hazard:

Above tree line: Considerable

Tree line: Moderate

Below tree line: Low (no snow)

People heading backcountry today should be prepared for more colder temperatures and winds. Visibility is limited above 1600 m a.s.l.. Take care on descents as exposed patches are prevalent.

Keep in mind, that even though Spring has arrived down here in the valley, it can still be very much like Winter above 1,600m a.s.l., dress and equipe yourself appropriately.

Watch out for big cracks and holes, loose debris on the snow and falling from upper cliffs. Shallow snowpack can slide on the bamboo and will release over rocks and points of tension.
