It was a very fine day yesterday once the early morning clouds cleared with some bright sunshine and lots of blue sky. Quite strong winds at times but it kept cold.

There are lots of cloud around the mountains again this morning.

There's no new snowfall to report... something I have been saying way too often this season of course.

But I still want to believe that we have decent snowfall ahead of us. Hopefully during today as well which would make weekend visitors happy. It also looks like there's a good chance of snow in the day tomorrow as well, and then Monday is looking very promising for snowfall. The rain on some forecasts for lower elevations around Sunday-Monday is something of a worry, but I'm feeling positive this morning! I believe in you Snow Gods.

---

One thing I feel the need to point out once again is that my 'observed snowfall' is from here at village level near Happo-one base. I make notes of the snowfall reported by resorts under the information for each resort below - those numbers are being reported by the resorts themselves. Obviously I am not able to confirm or make my own such measurements every day... the one thing that I can confirm with 100% confidence each morning is how much snow there has been at base.

In the case of Hakuba - perhaps more so than other regions that have less vertical - there is sometimes a big difference between how much falls on upper slopes and how much falls at base and in the village.
