Well we're off to a better start today with CALM West/North Westerlies. Cold temps out there this morning @ -6 deg in the Valley and -11 at the tops of the resorts. Clear sunny skies today with temps expected to rise to -1 in the Valley and -5 at the tops, so bring your sunscreen!

Hopefully some softening in the snow with the solar radiation today, especially after the extreme wind scouring yesterday afternoon. Make sure your edges are sharp! There is snow in the forcast for tomorrow and throughout the coming week, but hard to tell how much, keep your fingers crossed.

** AVALANCHE WARNING MODERATE **
Natural avalanches unlikely. Human triggered avalanches possible.
Use caution in steep terain especially around rocky outcrops, cornices and convexing rolls on unsupported slopes.
A crust covers most of the mountains right now but there are pockets of wind deposited snow in gullies and leaward slopes. Be careful of instability in this layer especially with increasing snow over the January 14th, rain crust. There is some faceting taking place beneath the rain crust as well that is also a concern. Do not be under the assumption that the crust means that the slopes are bomb proof. There is a possibility that avalanches may be set off in the areas described above especially when combined with solar radiation or intense wind loading. Be cautious out there.
