Clear skies and warmer temperatures today with light to moderate winds out of the S.W. . Temps are 11 deg.C in the Valley now and 6 deg.C at 1,500 m a.s.l., increasing to 15 deg.C today. Still plenty of skiers and boarders up on the top of the resorts today getting in those end of the season turns. More hard core sliders expected this weekend, unfortunately though, it looks like the good weather is not going to hold out for long and there is rain in the forecast for the weekend.

Avalanche Hazard:

Above tree line: Considerable

Tree line: Moderate

Below tree line: Low

Backcountry Travel Advisory:
Warming temperatures today will increase the chances of slides on South and East faces today and any of that new snow that fell over the last 48hrs. has most likely already slid but be aware and cautious when around sun exposed faces and shoots. Spring conditions mean a shallow snowpack over bushes, rock outcroppings and bamboo (sasa) will be more likely to slide. Also take care in convex areas as there may be glide cracks formed and big holes in the snow. Wet, moisture laden snow will be more likely to slide on steep faces and this may also loose rocks/debris onto unwary travellers, so be careful under steep rock faces and cliffs.
