Apparently there were huge winds closing down the runs of Happo yesterday - spent the day at Cortina with blue skies, sunshine, no wind and mad powder. Cortina are now boasting 350cm of snow. It just goes to show how conditions can vary even here in the same valley.

The last two days have been off the richter scale for powder lovers and snow conditions in both Hakuba and neighbouring Otari (Tsugaike and Cortina are actually in the village of Otari) have been unreal with incredibly deep snow of fantastic quality. Needs to be said again but it does not get much better than this!

Blah powder blah back to today no snow overnight, winds still hitting pretty heavily from the West/WNW and some lift operations on exposed (higher) slopes are affected.

It's not too cold out there today, -5 on Happo's Usagidaira and 3 degrees at the Ski Jump. The sun is shining in Wadano with big patches of blue but the top of Happo is obscured from down here, so once again varying conditions.

A mixed bag on the way weatherwise - there are lots of snowmen on the radar but how much will fall is anyones guess at this point. Things are looking good for Friday to be a clear and sunny day though so that should be a top day.

Play safe out there and have fun!
