Lovely morning here in Hakuba on this day of celebration for the Chinese New Year. Happy New Year!

Sunrise was great this morning again if you were up early enough. There's quite a lot of cloud around but the sun making it through in places. Early this morning you're going to have to rely on luck whether you get views or not out there.

A small amount of snow on the mountain has been recorded by various resorts as I have noted below.

Snow forecast for later today and tonight going into tomorrow. I'll give you the verdict on that tomorrow morning.

Come Saturday though the forecasts for the wide region is a warm up with potentially heavy rain on Sunday. Yikes, I hope they got that one wrong!

It kind of feels like we're going through a shift in weather at the moment. Hopefully there's lots more winter to follow once we pass the weekend warm hurdle.

Have as good day, stay safe.
