With the arrival of this newest warm front temperatures have risen to temperatures hovering just below 0 degrees C. We have received 20cm over night in the valley and it continues to snow very hard. However, there is the chance that temperatures may rise to above 0 in the valley later in the day and snow may turn to drizzle. We seriously hope not. Either way snow will definitely continue to fall up on the mountain and there will definitely be some great turns to be had up above mid station. Winds have died down since yesterday and should stay light through the day with increasing winds overnight and snow flurries through the night into Thursday.

Avalanche Bulletin:

Things up to today have been very stable but with this new system those wind slabs that were created on all aspects over the last 4 days will be loading with this new snow and will become more unstable as over laying snow adds weight and temperatures rise. The south and south east faces received large amounts of solar radiation in the past week and there are 3 sun crusts with in the top 70 cm of the snow pack. Be careful of new snow avalanches on these southern and south east aspects. Be extremely careful around steep convexing chutes or gullies around rocks and trees on south east aspects as there has been a lot of wind deposited snow in these areas on top of sun crusts and with cool clear nights recently there have also been facets forming around these rocks, trees and under the sun crusts. As northerly winds increase these south and south east slopes will once again continue to load.

Avalanche Danger:

Bellow Tree Line: Moderate
Natural avalanches unlikely. Human triggered avalanches POSSIBLE.
Use caution in steeper terrain on all aspects.

Alpine: Considerable
