About 5cm or so of snow fallen on the mountain yesterday, but nothing new overnight to report.

In fact it's a lovely morning here. Some thin white clouds over Hakuba - more cloud visible out to the east - but quite a lot of blue sky on view and the sun is out. Makes you want to get the skis or board on and get out. Going to warm up a bit today as well with a high temperature of around 6 degrees probably later on in the day.

We might get rained on tomorrow unfortunately, down in the village anyway as clouds roll in and it keeps relatively mild.

It's what is after that which is most interesting though. Temperatures back down where we want them and decent snowfall going into the weekend. Let it happen!

Just done a quick look round and it seems resorts are open as they were this morning.

---

Just an earthquake-related news. Good news, don't worry. Still a few aftershocks in the region but few in number and only very small. The other good news is that Route 148 to the north of Hakuba is now back open. It was of course blocked and a detour necessary for those going to and from Hakuba from the north using the road, but they have fixed that up now and the road is back open. The Route 148 road goes north to Itoigawa on the Sea of Japan coast, and is the way into Hakuba for people from that region of Niigata and also the Toyama and Hokuriku area. Good to have you back open!
