Good morning from Hakuba.

Fresh snow on the ground. Oh yes, I always love to be able to say that.

First up, the headlines with the fresh snowfall that the ski resorts are reporting:

Hakuba Cortina: 20-30cm (both base and top)
Hakuba Goryu: 5-10cm
Hakuba 47: 10-15cm
Hakuba Happo-one: 7cm (top Riesen lift)

So it sounds like you can expect 10+cm on the slopes, Cortina sounding nice - though early on they are not fully open (see below and check with them if you plan on going over there). Tsugaike Kogen have also added a similar chunk to their official snow depth numbers (yey!), but they don't share fresh snowfall numbers in themselves (booo!).

I can add 7cm to the report from here outside my place and there's snow on the ground on the main roads around the area.

Limited visibility in places on the mountain as snow continues to fall early morning but there is increasingly blue sky around over the village and we can expect more of that as conditions clear.

Tomorrow is going to be warmer and probably clear and sunny from the get go.

Fresh snow. Excellent. Let's enjoy it while we can.
