After a fairly lively first part of the Golden Week holidays, today is not actually a holiday but from tomorrow we have three more national holidays. Things seem very quiet this morning but I think we should see a fair few people out and about once again from tomorrow.

This morning the forecast is generally for clear and sunny conditions but the day has started somewhat grey and overcast but there are signs of things clearing up.

It should be fine conditions for the next few days as well, so remember the sunscreen.

Strong winds are affecting operations at Tsugaike early on with the Ropeway and No2 pair lift closed.

Hakuba 47 and Tsugaike will be open through until the end of Thursday, with Hakuba Goryu open until Sunday. The thin strip of snow that was the course down to the Gondola base at Goryu is now officially closed - not that it was really worth riding recently but now the upper slopes are the option there, but still very good cover up there. Next Monday there won't be any ski lifts officially moving in the valley, so it's your last chance!

Official snow depths and operations @ Monday 2nd May AM:

Hakuba Goryu:
The upper slopes at Goryu plan to be open until 8th May.
The Gondola and Alps No1, No2 and No3 lifts are operating.
The course from the upper Alps slopes to lower Toomi slopes is now closed.
Alps daira - 150cm.

Hakuba 47:
All lifts except Line D lift operating.
47 plans to be open until 5th May.
Top to bottom skiing still ok, resort reporting 80% of slopes remaining open (as of Sunday 1st May).
Snow depth (upper) - 87cm

The Gondola, Grad Quad, Alpen Quad, Kurobishi No2 quad, Kurobishi No3 pair, Skyline No2 pair and Panorama pair lifts are operating and the upper slopes will be open until 5th May. All of the lower lifts are now closed for the season - you need to take the Gondola down to the base at the end of the day. Course areas open are: Riesen Grad, Kurobishi, Usagidaira and Panorama.
Usagidaira/Kurobishi - 80cm

Tsugaike Kogen:
The Gondola as well as the Tsuga No2 pair and Han-no-ki high speed pair lifts in the upper area of the resort are operating. Tsugaike plans to be open until 5th May. Only the upper slopes are now open.
Snow depth upper - 185cm

Hakuba Iwatake, Hakuba Sanosaka, Cortina and Hakuba Minekata are now all closed for the season.
