Good morning - it is a beautiful morning around Grandeco.

8cm of new snow has fallen last night and it is a beautiful morning with fresh white snow and some blue skies. Temperature is keeping low that the snow condition is not wet snow - good conditions.

There was a snowslide/avalanche accident at a small ski area in Tochigi prefecture because of the heavy snow yesterday and recent warmer conditions. The ski hill was actually closed and it was a climbing event rather than skiing.

There are no steep slopes in Grandeco where this is likely to happen, but the patrol staff are out checking carefully each of the areas to make sure.

There's more than 3 meters of snow in the ski ground at this moment and that means there may be there will be more than that outside of the course areas. Please be aware of the snow depth and conditions if you hike up to Mt. Nishidaiten. As yesterday showed, fatal accidents can happen out there.

Anyway, back to the skiing and snowboarding at the resort and it should be a very good day for enjoying the fresh snow.
