woywoy 0
Afuri, Tsukumo and Ippudo at Ebisu are good. Santoka is OK at Ebisu as well ... Muteki at Ikebukuro is good too. Any other recommendations for ramen in Tokyo??? I am always on the look out for new tasty ramen. Where is this Sumire place? Where is Ichiran?
number9 0
Ichiran has several locations around Tokyo including Shibuya, Roppongi, Tokyo Dome LaQua City, Ueno, and Ikebukuro (originally from Fukuoka, where it's apparently richer and fouler, as tonkotsu's supposed to be). The Shibuya location is on the right hand side of the street in the basement when walking towards Tower Records from the train station. Beneath one of the gyudon places. http://www.ichiran.co.jp/index.html Aoba in Nakano and Musashi in Shinjuku have very good fishbased shoyu ramen. I've only been to each place once with a ramen freak of a friend because I'm not out that way much or there's usually a queue. http://ramen.gnavi.co.jp/shop/jp/g530000n.htm http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~tacky/rdb/rdb-516-menyamusashi-shinzyuku.htm
Goemon 0
Ippudo's got a real strong pork smell that'll slap you in the face two times. I like it. Lots of good info at the Ramen Database .
number9 0
Oh yeah, I like Ippudo too, great stuff. By Tsukumo, you mean the cheese miso of course? I've yet to go there..
gamera 0
Just curious. Some say they don't like it when Japanese make noise on eating noodles. Do you make noise? And I've found usually Japanese and Italians eat spaghetti not cutting any but others cut spaghetti into pieces and stick some of them with a folk!
bushpig 0
I make noise when eating ramen Gam. Slurping all the way until it flicks me in the forehead or eyes, burning me with the soup! It's the only way to eat Ramen or Udon. It used to annoy me but then I joined the gang, and have never looked back!
ncorrenti 0
Yeah I think a little bit of slurping is fine. There is a point where loud slurping becomes a bit anti-social though! It baffles me why some people cut their spaghetti up into shorter bits - it just makes it more difficult to wind around the fork.
HeatherLocklearRocks 1
I don't mind it. I mind the noises when they are made eating things that really do not need slurping. Like a bar of chocolate or a cold drink.

indosnm 0
I'm a slurper! Food is meant to be enjoyed! (and its the easiest way to scoff boiling hot noodles down one's gob!)
bushpig 0
that's cool Gamera, I would respond by slurping extra hard and making sure some of the soup went in your direction
