frannyo 2
But wait a minute, wasn't one of the aims of this war to "get Saddam", just like they were going to "get bin Laden"? Whatever happened to that? If Saddam is the master of Evil, then can't he just bring his Evil elswhere????
Ocean11 0
> "An older man made a wild kicking gesture with his foot, saying "Goodbye Saddam." So that makes it all alright then, the trampling of international law. It's funny, I've read several news stories, all picking up on this old coot and some Iraqi who said something quotable. But the details change - sometimes it's an old man, sometimes a young man. But who cares! - the point is made. How about an alternative scenario where all the countries cooperate with the UN to put pressure on these 'rogue' nations to reform? Maybe have a amnesties for the horrible leaders so they can step down knowing they won't be skinned alive in the plaza. Then there would be no civilians (or soldiers) killed, no devastating sanctions, no 'shock and awe' destruction, no looting and disorder, no rough justice. Would it really be beyond the wit of mankind to come up with a blueprint for making civilized transitions to functioning societies? Well, I guess until jingoist pillocks who like the media distractions in whatever flavour of bullshit they come learn to ask a few questions, the answer to that is No.
