I make fun of my buddy in Konan - a suburb of Nagoya in Aiichi-ken. He's amongst the rice fields.. Used to live in Fujinomiya-shizuoka. Pretty inaka!

Inaka gaijin - what do you do? English teacher? Do kids (maybe adults, too) point at you and say "ara....gaijin da!!!" It's happened to me many times!

I live in between rivers and rice fields and vegie patches! The farmer is a prick so I have no hessitation in taking a few vegies here and there! and its only 10 mins for nagoya station!

I think one of my friends in Toyama probably beats many on that one. About 30 minute drive to the nearest small village that has basic shops. Seriously inaka. Beautiful area.

I've driven through some inaka places and really wondered what these people do for shopping and entertainment. And I don't mean Gucci footwear and perfume, I mean tinnies of beer and bread.
