barok 0
When things don`t quite go my way, I get crazy homesick. Ahh to be back in the States, where things are easy and make sense.

sunrise 0
I miss the smell of the eucalypts and the sounds of the Oz birds. (actually in the park down the road they grow gum trees in a greenhouse and cut the branches off every year, so I can get my eucalyptus hit when I really need it, but it's just not the same as being in the Oz bush...... nekobi 0
i don't really get homesick, but i do wish it wasn't such a hassle to get home for a visit. bc finding a good block of time (a week isnt long enough for the 24+ hours of travel) and deciding to go back to where you know instead of on a holiday something new and exotic is always difficult. if you could just pop over for a long weekend or something it would be so cool. rach 1
I would definitely get homesick if I couldn't get back home for a few weeks each year. Apart from that just usually family occasions and Christmas etc I wish I were back in the UK.
zwelgen 0
I dont really get homesick anymore. dont get me wrong Im really looking forward to going back and life being less complicated and things simpler than here, but I kind of think of it more as a holiday destination now. Go stay at Hotel Mum and Dad for a while, drive their car, eat their food, the laundry gets done... What I miss more is my family and my sis (Im a twin). She doesnt live in NZ and every now and again I get twinges when I want to jump on a plane and chill with her.

Will Lee 0
When I first moved to J-Land I was blinded by all the excitement around me during the first year or so and I did not feel homesick at all. After that I'd get homesick once in a while. But now that I'm back home I'm starting to miss Japan, even though the season ended long ago. But then again, raining season is just around the corner... damian 0
I do not know if it is home sickness, but I really need a break from Japan. My interest in foreign societies is not strong enough to remain happy in a place like Japan. For the most I do not 'live in Japan', I live in a country that I work in. At the moment it happens to be Japan. As with when I visit most countries, Japan to me is a little bit of 'look at that, gee, interesting' but not much more. Just because a culture/people/language/food what ever is different from my origin does not mean that it is sustainably interesting to me. After a while the interest factor dwindles to near zero and the lifestyle shortcomings start to bother me. I am not a socialising/interactive/people person and being away from home requires those traits (or else you just hide in your house), so Japan has been a struggle. On the other hand there is a positive as the language barrier has given me so much opportunity not to socialise and just live with my thoughts. I do not know if that is homesickness. I think I am suffering from "beach side living western society sickness". I certainly miss the array of beauty that Australia offers. Plus the way of life. I also miss being able to mix with people who know me and share similar interests.
scouser 4
I need a break from Japan at least once a year, otherwise I'd go nuts. I think its less homesick, more needing to get out of Japan - as you say db
