fukdane 2
I just realised that it is mid-October and I have yet to see a kamemushi this fall. Very irregular. I'm not complaining mind, hate them things. Have they all left Japan, perhaps

Ocean11 0
Oh my God! You're right! And you know what that means don't you?! No ... snow ... at ... all Among 'old Japan hands', it's well known that numbers of 'kusamushi' are directly linked to winter precipitation.
its-a-clock 0
I've just seen the one - much less than usual. good in itself, but..

sunrise 0
Ah, so that's what they look like. (where do you find these things, Ocean?) Now, what about the smell? Is it from marking territory, producing it when feeling threatened, or when they die, etc...?
ug 0
Hate them things...
mina2 6
They smell if you touch them. I've seen them here in Gunma but not as many as usual.
BigSausage 0
I've seen them often but hardly ever actually smelt them. I think their actual smelliness is "hyped up", so to speak.
BigSausage 0
Glad they're not that big in reality
fukdane 2
They come in different colors too I think with a more greeny type popular round these ways. Well, most years anyway.
sachiko 0
Yaaah! you found picture of kamemushi. But also I did not see so many of it this year.
Ocean11 0
Due to complaints about the colour of my stink bug, I'm posting a green one, just to show that I can do it. The smell of stink bugs may indeed seem hyped - until you really squash one hard and carry that greenish smell around with you for a whole day. Having once squashed one inside my trouser leg, I can affirm that the smell really gets on your nerves after a while.
dale#1 1
They are disgusting. Does the green one smell more. Perhaps it smells of "purest green"?!
scouser 4
I've never seen them there green ones. They are cuter than the dirty brown ones.
