I just realised that it is mid-October and I have yet to see a kamemushi this fall. Very irregular. I'm not complaining mind, hate them things. Have they all left Japan, perhaps ;\)

Among 'old Japan hands', it's well known that numbers of 'kusamushi' are directly linked to winter precipitation.

Due to complaints about the colour of my stink bug, I'm posting a green one, just to show that I can do it.

The smell of stink bugs may indeed seem hyped - until you really squash one hard and carry that greenish smell around with you for a whole day. Having once squashed one inside my trouser leg, I can affirm that the smell really gets on your nerves after a while.
