big-will 7
The Office is a class comedy. I saw it mentioned in a few other threads, but it deserves its own. Any other fans out there? Going to get the Christmas specials sent over, hopefully they'll be as good as the series were. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/3334635.stm

TheOrange 0
I've been watching some of that this last few days. Interesting. I hear they're making a "US version". I wonder what that will turn out like.

gammaman 0
I have serious doubts over an american version. Only one american I know liked it. Can`t imagine how its going to translate for the US. I, however, agree wholeheartedly that it is just pure genius
Goemon 0
It's been playing on BBC America in the US for almost a year and is well-received there.

gammaman 0
Goemon, really? Well what`s the point of making an American version if they have already seen it?
Goemon 0
.stoke.: yeah, the Office is up for awards in the US and has a good following there. I have absolutely no idea why someone would try to Americanize it. Maybe...money? Seems idiotic to re-make it.
dancing_barefoot 0
I don't think its a case of remaking it. More a case of, lets do an American Office version. From what I've heard they don't just plan to carbon copy what The Office is.
Stefan 0
There is NO excuse for remaking a comedy series. Just accept it for what it is. They tried to remake One Foot in the Grave and Men Behaving Badly, both of which were funny series in there own right, so why remake 'em. It 's a tad insulting to Americans and Brits that TV Stations feel the need to change the humour so that people can "understand it". You don't see the BBC/ITV trying to remake Friends or The Simpsons. Dancing b/f what your suggesting with the 'American Office Version' is what many people might call Americanisation, the fact they they plan to take someone else's idea, throw in a few cheesy one liners and 'comedy' characters (which you have to admit they probably will) and basically glam it up a bit, goes against the comedy principles of the show. You're not meant to like David Brent, or any of them.
dancing_barefoot 0
Whatever, can't say it really bothers me.... not like it seems to bother you anyways

If it's funny, it's funny. No-one has seen what they are proposing. So you don't know what its gonna be like. Whats the problem??

enderzero 0
Actually...I think it would be called "Americanization." I have only seen the first 2 episodes but I really enjoyed them. I am looking forward to seeing the rest.

BagOfCrisps 24
The Office is absolutely brilliant. Love it, love it. I wish they did more, as long as they kept the quality.... perhaps quitting while you're ahead is the way to go.

However, I am an American and love the show. I believe I was one of the first to post about it on here (not definate on that though). I'd love to know how the holiday specials were.
