I can't believe the new F1 season starts today! I've hardly noticed whats been going on over the last few months, got some reading to do the next day or two.

Must be a European thing. The F1 that is.

I was astounded to hear that around 70% of Americans follow NASCAR. Scary.

Please explain the joy of watching cars go round a track or navigate a course. I don't get it.

If you don't "get it", an explanation won't help much.

Do you "get" people running round a track?
Do you "get" people skiing down a course as fast as they can?
Do you "get" people hitting a ball round with their feet called soccer?
etc etc

I know that hardly explains F1, but what really is there to explain? ?

Yes

Let me rephrase the question then. Where does the excitment come from? Is it the strategy of the race? The way the driver and the pit crew utilize pit stops? The wrecks?

Didn't mean any offense. I just find it very boring. I'm not big into mechanized 'sports'.

Generally not that interested, but I have a very good chance of getting an invite to the BMW corportate set up at the Bahrain GP. Hope it pans out! Free trip to the innaugral F1 in Bahrain! (Track is amazing!)

Just had to skite on this one!

To be honest all I want to really see is the groupy women!

watching can be a tad boring boring I will give you that BUT actually being there is another story. You "feel" it. 19000rpm of unmuffled heartstopping earsplitting madness. Its phenomenal, it really is.

Chinman doesn't work on needing something to prove. If this was the case, he would have retired. The fact that he is continuing means the fire is still there with him.

 ...for him perhaps. Not for us.

Mogski - must say.... very jelouse.. i was there in Melbourne yesterday and only had general entry - would have killed for pit/corporate pass like i've had previously at similar events. hob-nobbing with the rich and famous oh and the ladies would have been great. so if the Bahrain thing pulls off - then make the most of it!!

must say though yes it was a pretty boring race with schuey leading from beginning to end. hope the rest of the season heats up a little!!

Yes, of course. It was boring. After such high expectations. I'll give it a few more races to see hopefully that wasn't the way the season will be.

I'm not a big F1 fan or anything but I'm here in Mie so I'll be going to the F1 race here later in the year which should be fun.

Is there any way to get some kind of pit pass? (apart from working for BMW or related big company etc)
