KentaTakahashi 0
Did you hear about the Best of CD of Utada Hikaru sell crazy number (2.6 mill) in 1 day of sales? And there is not even new song on the CD!!
NoFakie 45
Proof once again that file sharing is killing music
veronica 2
I quite like some of her songs actually. 2.6 million? Is that right?!?
Ocean11 0
Utada is eminently more humpable than Britters although they both produce rubbish music. Hearing Utada whining 'can you keep a secret?' repeatedly while I was snowboarding at Royal Hill a while back made me think of some fun ways of temporarily incapacitating her for singing. I didn't exercise my imagination overly hard, I must say.
scouser 4
At the risk of being uncool, I quite like her. Shes way better than most Jpop, quite a few of her songs are quite good and sound good too rather than that generic 80s SAW pop sound that lots of jpop has. She seems quite spunky. Definitely better than bloody Puffy, thats for sure.
frannyo 2
Quote: Utada is eminently more humpable First time I read that, I thought it said "humm-able". You really think so?
BagOfCrisps 24
Can you keep a secret - I heard that one a lot as well. Definitely a bit whiney. Are Japanese not into downloading much yet?
taguchi 0
Sometime I wonder how she became so popular as she is. It all started with that Automatic single , was it so different and new when its released?
veronica 2
I downloaded her best of and now its on my vPod.
Ocean11 0
She sounded quite hot on that single - the whininess came across as sexy pain which went very well with the lyrics. Then everything else she did sounded just the same. But hey, not really being able to sing is no obstacle to being a vocalist these days.
nagpants 1
I think shes a pretty good singer actually.
Markie 0
Actually, I am quite impressed by not only her singing and looks, but also the quality of her compositions. In some of them she has sections which are contrapuntal instead of the normal one melody line. That's a very interesting style.
Ocean11 0
Which tracks are those Markie? I'd like to have a listen. And how much of her work is actually hers I wonder...
Markie 0
I was hoping you wouldn't ask that...it's been some time since I've actually listened seriously to her work and I remember it was in her first album. I think it was "Time will tell".
big-will 7
Does she not write the songs and the lyrics?
