I spend maybe 5 or 6 hours of the work day on it.

The other hour or so is spent on the toilet/making coffee/wandering aimlessly.

I think I did about an hours work back in october 2001.

Bobby,

You havent taught in a year??? Damn, thats sweet mate! And I thought I had it good with 15 hours lol.gif

Dunno if I could handle being on the internet for that long everyday. I am online all day long but only spend a few mins here and there cuz of preparing lessons and studying Japanese - Im really trying to get 一級 this year and have lots to review from last December and about 20X's more to learn...無理じゃんか \:\(

hey dont think I enjoy it - its boring!

once i signed my contract for third year it changed and i have had to put up with it. sometimes its nice to organise holidays, plan things etc but i could still do that and have 2 or 3 classes a day.

I'm with Bobby12

I have 3 hours of teaching a day so am on the internet for about 4-5 hours. Gets difficult finding things to do. Only so many things that interest me on the web and I can't look at porn. So I spend most of my time at

bivouac.com

SJ

thetoque.net

Gets really difficult in March and August when there are no classes but I have to be at school.

... getting off the topic a little, but... a question for all those ALTs out there, how many of you have classes you are in charge of? i mean, like ones you plan?

i'm just curious cos i have 3 classes (each twice a week) that i plan and teach... so i let the JTE know what i plan to do, check they are ok with my plan, and away we go... i'm at a senior high...

of course i have other classes too... and with those, i can pretty much stick in my two cents worth anytime... actually, i've been planning a lot of those lately too...

the new JTE this year was told by the other English teachers... "in those classes, you will be the assistant...) \:D not a bad situation really... surely there must be other people who get to do lots of teaching too?

since the new academic year started i have been given 8 lessons a month, plus one 3rd year class a week. i plan them and often teach them alone. I think the JTE is totally unnecessary and even a bad influence.

I also teach 2 days a week at another school where I teach 2 classes a day at least and again plan them myself. I dont use the internet there at all - i use the time to study japanese.
