Depends...are you interested in stopping and looking at anything are just zipping from coast to coast? You could make the drive in 2 days but barely have time for food or sightseeing. A decent coast to coast trip'll take you 5-8 days in my opinion. If you are a non-drinker and/or avoiding Las Vegas maybe a little less. Also, you need to plan your route well. Do you want to take the northern route or the southern? You could hit up a lot of party cities on your Southern route. Or you could go the Denver, Minneapolis, Motor City, Wisconson Dells, Appalachian ..way. Do you wanna do the typical LA to NYC or weave a different route. Point is there are a lot of cities and sights to consider.

HEY PLUCKY..he ought to way in on this one as he's soon to move back to the U.S. and embark on a cross-country trip.

My personal exerience with real time, non-stop driving, was a trip from Minneapolis to New York City. It took a day..with a very brief stop in Gettysburgh and Philidelphia.
